The best fun can now be found out of school

IT’S fun, healthy and active and the kids at St Francis Xavier Out of School Care Centre are having a ball.

The centre has just joined the federally funded Active After School Care Communities (AASC) program and the kids will now be playing golf on Tuesday and soccer on Wednesday with accredited coaches.

AASC regional co-ordinator Bruce Wallace said the program was free to children in the after-school program.

“It’s a significant first step to a life-long involvement in sport. That’s my goal: I want all of our children to play sport for life,” he said.

SFX co-ordinator Tracie Paton said the sports program was an added bonus to the holistic programs the centre already provided.

She said the centre had gone through an accreditation process last year and had received a high quality rating on all of their programs.

After-school activities are designed to be fun and inclusive for all the kids who attend the program, while also providing supported homework times.
